The Hindi remake of the Tamil film Amitabh Bachchan's film Suryavansham was released on 21 May 1999. Big B's double role makes the most mimes on this film. Suryavansham proved to be a cult due to these reasons
In the film too, real life couple Rajesh Khattar and Neelima Azim played the role of husband and wife.
The film was released on 21 May 1999 and the same year Max Channel was launched. Meaning both the film and the channel came in the same year.
The channel has bought the rights to the film for 100 years. For this reason, this film is shown repeatedly. However, the channel set max has now changed to Sony Max.
Suryavansham was a Hindi remake of Tamil, followed by four films from 1997 to 2000 on the same story.
The first was made in Tamil with Sarath Kumar and Devyani in 1997. It was followed in 1998 by Daggubati Venkatesh and Meena Durairaj in Telugu. The third Amitabh one was made in 1999 with the Hindi Suryavansham title. The fourth time the film was made in 2000 in Kannada, titled Suryavamsha. It featured Vishnuvardhan and Isha Koppikar in lead roles.
It was shot in Gujarat, Hyderabad and Polonnaruwa, Kandy Sri Lanka. Amitabh's mansion shown in the film is actually a resort in Palanpur, Gujarat. Its name is Balaram Palace. Which is made in Chitrasani village.
The film proved to be a blockbuster in Bengal. The film completed 100 days in Kolkata's Metro Cinema.
Soundarya, who became the wife of Heera Thakur, died at the age of 31. He died in 2004 during an aircraft crash during an election campaign in Bangalore.
Soundarya entered the industry in 1992 with the film Gandharva. He has appeared in over 100 films, including Kannada, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Soundarya had received 6 South Filmfare Awards. Although active in the South, Soundarya's 'Suryavansham' was the first and last Bollywood film.
Suryavansham was produced by Adiseshgiri Rao. The story of the film was of Vikraman, who was also going to direct it but later the direction was done by EVV Satyanarayana.
Suryavansham, a film made in the late nineties, had a budget of only 7 crores, while the film grossed 12.64 crores.
Amitabh Bachchan and Sonu Nigam gave voice for the film's songs from Chori Chori to Chori. It is rarely seen that the voice of two singers should be used for a hero in a song.
