Decline in recruitment in government jobs, hiring reached 3-year low, know what is the reason

In the financial year 2020-21, there has been a decline in hiring in government jobs compared to the last three years and it has reached a low level. National Pension System (NPS) payroll data shows that while the central government hired 27 percent fewer people, & nbsp; states hired 21 percent fewer people.

Hiring in government departments reduced in 2021 compared to 2020

Significantly, in the financial year 2020, around 119,000 people were placed on the permanent payroll by the central government, but in FY 2021 this number came down to 87,423. Similarly, states hired 389,052 people in FY 2021, which is about 107,000 less than a year ago.

This data clearly shows that not only the private sector but also the government has slowed down the recruitment in the epidemic period. At the same time, experts and government employees’ associations blame the & nbsp; decrease in government hiring, the ban on new positions and the increasing dependence on outsourced workers.

Government is doing permanent posts less

According to the report published in Hindustan, General Secretary of the Indian Public Service Employees Federation (IPSEF), Prem Chand said that, & nbsp; & ldquo; Government recruitment is decreasing year by year and this trend will continue as the central government level and Even in states, permanent posts are being reduced in departments. & Nbsp; Recruitment is taking place on most contracts. & nbsp; Multi-tasking contract workers, as the government calls them, are being hired instead of permanent employees. & rdquo;

Contract workers do not speak against the system

Prem Chand further states that, & ldquo; There are two reasons why the government is doing this – one government now wants to reduce the cost of the employees, and second, nothing will be spoken against the contract worker system. In any ministry, you can easily see the contractual personnel deployed for secretarial services. Even a part of the secretary and additional secretary support staff are now going to the contract workers.

What NPS figures say

NPS data shows that the central government hired an average of around 11,000 people every month in 2017-18, which declined to 9,900 in 2019-20 and 7,285 in 2020-21. At the state government level, where 45,208 people were appointed in 2019, the figure was only 32,421 in 2021.
