Justice SA Bobde was born on 24 April 1956 in Nagpur. In 1978, he enrolled himself as a lawyer in the Maharashtra Bar Council. Justice S.A., who served for 21 years in the Nagpur bench of the High Court. Bobde was sworn in as Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court in March 2000.

In August 2017, Justice SA Bobde, who was a part of the nine-member constitution bench headed by then CJI Justice JS Khehar, declared the right to privacy as a fundamental right.
He was one of the three-member bench in 2015 which clarified that no citizen of India can be denied basic services and government services for lack of an Aadhaar number.
