now hydrogen mix cng can be used in your cars for commuting. Important news for CNG car owners, new fuel will be available now

New Delhi If you have a CNG vehicle too, then soon you will be able to fill Hydrogen Mix CNG. The government is working fast on reducing pollution and on other alternative fuel options instead of petrol and diesel in vehicles. In this regard, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified the new rules.

Spreads less pollution
Although CNG spreads much less pollution than petrol and diesel, but hydrogen mix will cause less pollution than CNG. The central government has named this new fuel H-CNG. H-CNG will contain a mixture of 18 percent hydrogen and 82 percent CNG. The ministry is notifying various types of alternative fuels under clean fuels for transportation.

Notified on 25th September
GSR 585 (E) was published by the Ministry on 25 September 2020 to amend the Central Automotive Rules 1989 to include H-CNG as an Automotive fuel for vehicles. The draft rules in this regard were made available to the general public on 22 July. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has also developed the specification (IS 17314: 2019) of hydrogen compressed natural gas (H-CNG) as a fuel for motor vehicles.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has notified the rules for various alternative fuels. The Minister of Road Transport, Highways and MSME said in a tweet, ‘After testing the use of H-CNG (18 percent mixture of hydrogen) compared to CNG to reduce emissions in automotive, BIS compressed hydrogen-containing natural Gas (H-CNG) instructions have been prepared. ‘Notification of amendment to the Central Automotive Rules 1989 for the use of H-CNG as an automotive fuel has been published. He said that this is a step towards alternative clean fuels in the transport sector.
