New Delhi Union Road Transport and Highways and MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that the initiative of products like “Khadi natural paint” will give a boost to the rural economy and this could soon become an industry of Rs 6,000 crore. Gadkari said in the program organized to launch this new type of paint in the market that the Khadi and Village Industries Commission has developed this first paint manufactured from cow dung. Such initiatives can achieve the goal of self-sufficient India and prevent migration from villages to cities.
Khadi paint will be available for 50% less than the paint sold in the market
Gadkari said, “After branding Khadi natural paint, it will become an industry of 6,000 crores. It is much better than the best paint available in the market and is available for Rs 225 per liter while the color of different brands is up to Rs 550 per liter. Wants to increase the percentage, while taking the share of exports from 48 percent to 60 percent.
Gadkari said, “Our plan is to increase the business of Khadi Village Industries Commission from the current Rs. 80,000 crore to Rs. 5 lakh crore in the next five years.” Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Giriraj Singh, Union Micro , Minister of State for Small and Medium Enterprises Pratap Chandra Sarang and KVIC President Vinay Kumar Saxena were also present.

No heavy metal like mercury, mercury in Khadi paint
The official release said that Khadi natural paint is available in two forms – distemper paint and plastic emulsion paint. The project was conceived by the Chairman of KVIC in March 2020 and later developed by Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute, Jaipur, which works as a unit of KVIC. There is no other heavy metal like glass, mercury, chromium, arsenic, cadmium in this paint. Khadi natural distemper and emulsion paint have been tested in three reputed national laboratories of the country.
