Shajapur. While the corona virus has made life difficult for the common people along with the government, on the one hand, the farmer called Annadata is shedding tears of his plight. The farmer sweats his blood one by one after three months of hard work and produces crops, protecting him from natural disasters. But when the crop is taken to the mandis, then it does not even get the cost price. The same is happening with the farmers of the Malwa region, mainly onion prices are being decided by the traders here. Due to which onion price was reduced from Rs 3 to 5 per fort.
The onion crop is mainly sown by farmers in the surrounding area including Moreta Kevadi, Umarigigi Khadi, Khatsur, Deoli, Vinaya, Chiratia, Pagravat Kala, Avantipur Barodia. Farmer's merchandise is purchased by merchants from three to five rupees. In the mandis, the traders are taking advantage of the lockdown and are being purchased at one-third of the price. Due to which farmers are finding it difficult to extract the cost price. Planting seeds in one acre of land, including digging, harvesting and gunny costs 25 thousand, when 70 quintals of onions were produced. If it is sold for 3 to 5 rupees, then it comes to 35000 rupees. Onion was purchased from Bhavantar Yojana last year. Due to this, the amount fixed as the difference of price was also received in the account of the farmers, but this year neither the government paid attention to the plight of the farmers and after registering under Bhavantar Yojana, onion procurement center was started.
