new Delhi. Amid slowing of the lockdown and the resurgence in industrial activity due to this, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Wednesday that the government would plan to bring the migrants back to the cities. He said that we have to see how this work can be done better at the level of companies and expatriates. Therefore, the Center, states and companies have a lot of work to do. Sitharaman said that workers of many companies have approached the management to try to know if the lockdown is going to end soon and the functioning of the companies is going to start again.
20 lakh crore rupees economic package will have all-round effect
In an interview to ANI editor Smita Prakash, he said that the 20 lakh crore rupees economic package announced by the government to overcome the coronavirus crisis would have an all-round effect. He also said that the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of self-reliant India is to make India competitive globally. Last week, Sitharaman gave details of the Rs 20 lakh crore self-sufficient India package in the announcements made in five days. The aim of the package was to make India self-reliant on one hand and to help people to cope with the conditions arising from coronavirus on the other.
Prime Minister does not promote friendlyism
He said that the BJP-led central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi do not promote friendship. There have been no complaints about us directing banks. The only problem banks have is that they are afraid of giving loans. Because it is feared drowning. For this, we have guaranteed loan. We do not promote corruption or friendliness. Banks understand the situation and decide. They will take. I am giving them the assurance that if the loans given by them sink, they will not be held responsible. But if someone promotes friendliness at the local level, banks will have to dismiss it.
Priyanka Gandhi's attack on migrants answered
Responding to Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's attack on the Uttar Pradesh government over the issue of migrant workers, the finance minister said that in states where Congress is in government, very few trains brought migrant laborers. This shows the hypocrisy of the Congress. If Priyanka Gandhi is really worried about the Uttar Pradesh government, then she should think why 300 trains have arrived in this state, while 5 to 7 trains could not come in Chhattisgarh. I am not saying that both states have equal population, but both states have equal number of migrants. The Congress on Wednesday criticized Yogi Adityanath's government, saying that more than 1,000 buses arranged by the Congress to carry the migrants were not allowed to enter the state. Priyanka Gandhi also made statements on the party's social media platform on this issue.
Whatever the opposition says, the government has given relief to the poor and migrants
Sitharaman said that the opposition can say anything to criticize the government. But the government has made reasonable efforts to provide relief to the people in lockdown. A few hours after the first lockdown came into force in March, the government announced the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. In this scheme, arrangements were made to provide food to the poor so that no one has to starve. We thought of giving LPG and some cash to the poor. The states where the opposition is in government did not do any better.
