Shivpuri. The state governments have amended the Factories Act to increase the working hours from 8 to 12. The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has started a protest. The union has demanded the withdrawal of the extended hours. Also, the workers should be paid the wages of March and April 2020. Food, shelter, health, transport and work etc. should be provided for the migrant laborers on both sides. National register should be prepared for migrant laborers. A memorandum has been submitted to SDM Shivpuri at the Collectorate on Wednesday.
Some states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat have passed ordinances and decided to repeal labor laws for 3 to 4 years. Now more state governments are thinking to follow the same path. Many state governments have amended the Factories Act to increase the working hours from 8 to 12, without consulting the labor representatives, including the Bharatiya Mazdoor Union. These actions of state governments are a violation of fundamental rights.
