Tennis star Roger Federer out of 2020 season due to injury, made this statement on Twitter

London: Veteran tennis player and 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer will not be able to play in any tournament this year due to knee surgery but he is expected to return at the beginning of the season next year. Federer issued a statement on Twitter on Wednesday, saying that he will not be able to play in the 2020 season as he is still troubled by a knee injury. After this statement by the 38-year-old player, speculation about his retirement may be intensified.

Federer had his right knee operation done in February but it was not completely successful and he had to undergo surgery again after a few months. The Swiss star said in a statement, “I felt in trouble during the initial phase of rehabilitation a few weeks ago and I had to undergo arthroscopic surgery of my right knee immediately.” In the same way I did earlier, I plan to take enough time to be 100 percent fit to play at the top level.

Federer was to remain out for 4 months due to the first operation but the tournaments were canceled or postponed due to the Corona virus epidemic, including Wimbledon and the French Open. Now if the US Open and the French Open are held in September, then Federer will not be able to play in them.

He said, 'I'm looking forward to seeing everyone back on the tour at the start of the 2021 season.' Federer won his last Grand Slam tournament as the Australian Open in 2018. He has the record of winning the most 20 singles Grand Slams in the men's category. He is followed by Rafael Nadal (19) and Novak Djokovic (17).
