new Delhi. South Korean company Samsung has again come first in the case of selling feature phones in the Indian market. According to the latest report by Statista, Samsung has become number one with 19 percent feature phone shipment market share. Earlier in 2018, Jio was at the first position with 38 percent market share.
Samsung benefited, loss to Jio
Samsung sold a total of 19 percent of feature phones in the Indian market in 2019. Samsung sold 12 percent of its phones in 2018, and was in second position. In 2019, Jio sold 17 percent of phones. In 2018, Jio sold 38 percent of the phones. That is, Jio has lost 21 percent. ITE was third in the list, Lava in fourth, Nokia in fifth.
Xiaomi tops in smartphone shipments
Chinese companies are dominating the Indian market in terms of smartphone shipments. Xiaomi sold the highest 28 per cent of phones in 2019. Even in 2018, the company had sold such a percentage of phones. Samsung came in second with 21 percent of phone sales. However, the company has incurred a loss of 3 per cent over 2018. After this, Chinese companies like Vivo, Realme, Oppo dominated. Sales of these companies have increased compared to 2018.
